Bio
Lawrence Earley is a writer and photographer from Raleigh, North Carolina. He has photographed for the past 35 years, traveling widely in the United States and especially relishing infrequent trips abroad. His wanderlust took him and his wife Renee abroad for extended stays in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands and, later, in Tunisia, where he taught American studies at the University of Tunis.
His love for the outdoors and travel led him out of the classroom and into a job writing and photographing about natural history and conservation for Wildlife in North Carolina magazine in Raleigh. He became editor in 1997 and left in 2000 to complete his book Looking for Longleaf: The Fall and Rise of an American Forest which was published in 2004.
His commercial photography focuses on designed landscapes, chiefly gardens and parks. Having photographed natural landscapes for many years, he finds an especial fascination in working with the designs of landscape architects and designers.
He continues photographing for pleasure, exhibiting his black and white landscape photographs widely in North Carolina.
